About The Position

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of South Florida seeks to fill a 9-month, full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Statistics/Data Science on its Tampa campus. The role requires research interests in statistical methodology for Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovations on biomedical or pharmaceutical applications, specifically AI-enabled Drug Discovery and Development. The position starts August 7, 2027. The successful candidate will be an outstanding researcher at the intersection of statistical science, AI, and biomedical or pharmaceutical applications, focusing on data-driven approaches to AI-enabled drug discovery and development. This role will contribute to the department's growing research initiatives in AI-enabled data science and health analytics. Collaboration with researchers from USF Department of Chemistry, USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, Taneja College of Pharmacy, Moffit Cancer Center, and Tampa General Hospital is expected.

Requirements

Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics with a concentration in Statistics or other disciplines with strong background in theoretical statistics.
Demonstrated record of achievement in academic research, teaching, and service.
Doctoral degree must be conferred by August 1, 2027.
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.

Nice To Haves

Previous teaching experience is preferred.
Strong theoretical foundation in Statistics.
Research experience in AI for drug discovery, evidenced by a strong record of research with publications in statistical or related journals.
Interdisciplinary collaborative experience is strongly valued.
