About The Position

This position provides leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating learning experiences for students in classroom and research settings. The role requires competence in teaching, scholarship of teaching, scholarship of discovery and integration through research, and scholarship of application through participation in various organizations. The Assistant Professor Research will maintain current professional credentials as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated record of research achievement, including publications and presentations.
  • Potential for or experience in securing research funding.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and interact contributes to a diverse academic environment.
  • Documented ability to work safely in a BSL-2 and BSL2-(+) laboratory environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior research experience with BSL-2 infectious agents is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality, original research in the candidate’s area of expertise.
  • Publish findings in peer reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
  • Develop competitive grant proposals and secure extramural funding to support research activities.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to the candidate’s discipline.
  • Develop new course materials and participate in curriculum planning.
  • Supervise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research projects, theses, and dissertations.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaborations within the department and across the university.
  • Participate in research groups, seminars, and joint projects.
  • Contribute to departmental and university service activities, including committees, outreach and professional organizations.
