San Francisco State University, Department of Psychology offers an exciting opportunity for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Psychology beginning August 2027. We seek a colleague whose teaching and research interests include development, community, and/or families. We are especially interested in qualified candidates with a demonstrated commitment -- through their research, teaching, and service -- to the diversity and excellence of our academic department. The Department of Psychology serves over 1,000 undergraduate and 150 graduate students. Requirements

Ph.D. in Psychology or related discipline (e.g., Community Psychology, Educational Psychology, Human Development).
Terminal degree must be completed by the first day of employment.
Record of working and communicating effectively with colleagues and students.

Nice To Haves

Record of teaching contributions in research methods, scientific writing, or basic psychological processes (as a graduate student, post-doc, or faculty member).
Active record of scholarship related to the Developmental Psychology program in the Department of Psychology at SF State.
Record of teaching, research, and/or service contributions that align with SF State’s commitment to social justice, inclusion, and equity.
Experience teaching and working closely with students from historically under-represented communities.
Evidence of incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and research.

Responsibilities

Undergraduate and graduate teaching, including core courses in development (childhood, adolescence, lifespan), community, and/or families.
Graduate teaching responsibilities assigned based upon expertise and faculty interest across various graduate programs.
Mentoring and advising both undergraduate and graduate students.
Developing an active ongoing research program in one’s area of specialty.
Ongoing committee and service assignments within the Department of Psychology.
