About The Position
The Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of San Diego is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in international development, with a focus on international politics, institutions, or public policy in the Global South. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop new courses in their area of expertise, and contribute to instruction in research methods and/or policy analysis. This position aims to broaden the department's curriculum, particularly in areas beyond existing strengths in Latin American politics and migration politics. The university emphasizes a liberal arts education grounded in the Catholic intellectual tradition, fostering intellectual curiosity, academic rigor, and a commitment to creating a more just and humane world. Requirements
- Terminal degree, preferably a Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related field.
- ABD candidates will be considered if they expect to complete their Ph.D. by September 2027.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and research.
- Demonstrated commitment to mentoring undergraduates.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a welcoming climate in the classroom and across campus.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
- Official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.
