Requirements

Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education
Four (4) years college teaching experience (96+ credits).
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

Nice To Haves

Experience teaching Early Childhood Education courses (e.g., Introduction to Early Childhood Care and Education; Foundations of Child Development; Observation, Documentation, and Assessment of Young Children; Exceptional Learners; Language Development and Emergent Literacy in Young Children; Children, Families, and Communities; and/or Curriculum and Methods for Diverse Learners).
Experience and ability to align curriculum and assessment with CT and national early childhood standards.
Experience leading or supporting NAEYC accreditation efforts at the higher education level.
Experience applying the CT Core Knowledge and Competency (CKC) Framework in course and program design.
Demonstrated collaboration with early childhood programs, public schools, or state agencies.
Background in interdisciplinary or community partnerships that support early educator pathways.
Bilingual in English/Spanish.
Experience using technology to enhance the learning environment, e.g., Blackboard, online instruction or other modalities/software.

Responsibilities

Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date.
Respond to and work with multiple constituencies, including students, peers (faculty and staff), and external agencies (business, community, educational, etc.).
Perform divisional departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources.
Teach thirty (30) credit hours per academic year and deliver a range of courses within the assigned discipline.
Evaluate and assess student learning outcomes.
Provide student support, mentoring, and academic advising.
Develop curriculum and periodically review and update instructional materials.
Assist with program reviews and accreditation-related activities.
Plan and execute program-related events.
Attend workshops, trainings, and/or professional conferences to maintain currency in the field.
Recruit, advise, and retain students in designated program areas.
Select appropriate part-time instructors.
Schedule program courses.
Hire and evaluate faculty.
Establish and cultivate partnerships with local organizations and employers.
Arrange and supervise student internships.
Assess, evaluate, and continuously improve the program.
Perform other duties as appropriately assigned to a Program Coordinator, in accordance with contract hours and the collective bargaining agreement.
Utilize release time, as specified in the collective bargaining agreement, to perform required administrative functions.
Attend and participate at convocation and commencement ceremonies.
Service on assigned committees and task forces.
Attend and participate at committee, staff, informational, and professional meetings, which may occur during evenings and weekends.
