About The Position

River Valley Community College is hiring for the Summer Semester - Fall 2026 for an Assistant Professor in the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Program. This position is located at the Claremont Campus. The role involves educating students in the OTA Program according to the prescribed curriculum and assisting with departmental and institutional activities that support the college's mission. The position is within the Department of Rehabilitation Services Allied Health and reports to the Department Chair of Rehabilitation Services Allied Health.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in Occupational Therapy, Education, or a health related discipline. If the master's degree is in education or a health-related discipline, twelve (12) graduate credits in Occupational Therapy and a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy are required.
  • Three (3) years of teaching experience in the field of Occupational Therapy or three (3) years' experience as an Occupational Therapist.
  • OR Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in Occupational Therapy or Education. If the bachelor's degree is in education, an Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
  • Four (4) years' experience as an occupational therapist or as a teacher in the field of Occupational Therapy, with professional experience as a fieldwork educator or documentation of training and responsibilities of a fieldwork educator.
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant certification.
  • A valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, responsible for directing all aspects of clinical experiences for students, including organizing, administering, reviewing, and revising clinical instruction and outcomes, developing clinical locations, and overseeing the general effectiveness of the clinical experience.
  • Teaches OTA and Rehabilitation Therapy courses in classroom, laboratory, and/or clinic/field experience settings.
  • Supervises student learning activities and academic progress, maintaining accurate records of student progress and accomplishments.
  • Maintains accessibility and availability to assist students with their learning needs.
  • Participates in departmental activities by assisting in program/course review and development, maintaining contact with business and industry, assisting in articulation initiatives, maintaining educational equipment and spaces, and requisitioning instructional materials.
  • Assists in planning, development, and implementation of college recruitment and retention activities, such as career fairs, student orientations, registrations, and award ceremonies, and/or advising student activity groups.
  • Engages in professional activities related to teaching specialization, such as serving on college or system teams, advising pre-OTA students, and participating in community events.
  • Assists with accreditation processes, including data collection, report writing, and maintaining accreditation status with ACOTE.
  • Observes all academic policies and procedures and institutional rules and regulations, demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
  • Serves on and leads college or system committees.
  • Maintains competence in Occupational Therapy through continuing education and clinical practice.
  • Complies with all college, system, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
