The University of Memphis College of Health Sciences (CHS) invites applications for a dynamic and innovative individual to join our faculty as a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment at a level commensurate with experience and qualification for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program to teach and serve as the Admissions Chairperson for the DPT program in alignment with the mission of our program. Candidates for the rank of Assistant Professor of Teaching must demonstrate the potential to contribute to the overall mission of the college and university and the capacity to be an effective instructor. An earned entry-level degree in physical therapy is required and a terminal degree (i.e., PhD, EdD, DHSc) is preferred at the time of hire (or in progress). The successful candidate is expected to contribute to and enhance teaching and mentoring activities within the DPT program, as well as participate in community and professional service appropriate for a university faculty member. The candidate should be a licensed physical therapist in Tennessee or their state of residence. The Admissions Chair will collaborate with the collective faculty, college marketing assistant director, and the University of Memphis Graduate School on recruitment and admissions and contribute to marketing for the DPT program. This individual will ensure that recruitment and admissions align with university guidelines and accreditation standards. This position will also oversee the admissions committee within the program and will be the liaison for all matters concerning student admission to the DPT Program. Successful candidates should possess excellent communication skills, along with strong computer skills to meet the needs of the electronic admissions application service, PTCAS. An understanding of university marketing and recruitment would be advantageous. We are eager to identify a candidate who shows a genuine appreciation of evidence-based teaching, integration of technology within the classroom, and building a student-centered community within the classroom. The candidate should be prepared to deliver a contemporary, entry-level physical therapy curriculum focused on developing leaders in service to meet the needs of society and the profession. Participation in teaching, scholarship, and service activities to advance the mission and vision of the program and the physical therapy profession will guide the faculty member’s professional development. This position will also serve as the Admissions Chair, leading the development, organization, and implementation of the DPT admissions process and procedures.
