About The Position

The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminology at Eastern Illinois University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Social Work to begin January 1, 2027. Requirements

  • A Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program is required at time of appointment.
  • At least 3 years of post MSW practice required.
  • Background in macro social work practice.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: family and society, social welfare, macro social work practice including policy and research, international development, or immigration services.

Nice To Haves

  • A Ph.D. in Social Work, Doctor of Social Work (DSW), or related field is preferred.
  • ABD applicants will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to our Sociology program and the new interdisciplinary Bachelor of Social Work program.
  • Teach current departmental offerings, including introduction to social work, family and society, and poverty and social welfare.
  • Develop new courses in their areas of expertise.
  • Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
  • Demonstrate potential for research, publication, and service to the discipline/university.
