About The Position

California State University San Marcos is interested in hiring one tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, available for individuals with a strong background in Public Health and/or related health determinant fields. Applicants should have demonstrated excellence in teaching public health coursework in one or more key areas (e.g., Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Community Health/Health Education, Environmental Health, Health Policy), and potential for excellence in one or more research areas relating to Community-Engaged Research, Health Disparities/Health Equity, Health Data, Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Chronic and Infectious Diseases, Prevention Interventions, Health Policy, Maternal and Child Health, Nutrition, and/or Evaluation or similar areas of research related to health promotion or global health. Individuals are encouraged to describe all areas for which they have demonstrated expertise. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate (e.g., PhD, DrPH, ScD, MD) in Public Health or a closely related field is required. ABD candidates will be considered, but must have completed the doctorate by hire date.
  • Demonstrated record of success in teaching and research commensurate with the qualifications for Assistant Professor at CSUSM.
  • Experience in teaching, research or other creative activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with colleagues on an ethnically and culturally diverse campus.
  • Experience working with undergraduate and/or graduate college level students.
  • Practical experience in preparing manuscripts and grant proposals.
  • Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.
  • The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
