About The Position

Nominations and applications are invited for the position of Assistant Professor of Psychology, area of specialization is open. This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position to begin July 30, 2027. The Department of Psychological Science and Counseling is a diverse, dynamic, and collegial environment that is home to a large undergraduate program in psychological science, a Master of Science program in Industrial and Organizational Psychology (MSIO), a Master of Science program in Counseling, and a PsyD program specializing in working with military families. The department is housed within the College of Behavioral and Health Sciences which affords rich opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations. Some examples of recent and ongoing college collaborations include a grant-funded research and intervention project aimed at supporting student veteran transitions to college, a grant-funded project focused on student mental health and wellness, a juvenile justice mentorship project, and a working group focusing on trauma-informed pedagogy. Clarksville is a vibrant, diverse community with a low cost of living, and easy interstate access to nearby Nashville. Requirements

• A Ph.D. in Psychology is required, with the area of specialization open.
• ABD will be considered if the Ph.D. will be completed by July 30, 2027.

• Preference will be given to candidates who can contribute to one or more of the following areas: introduction to psychopathology, introduction to clinical neuroscience, and/or learning and behavioral disorders.
• Candidates who demonstrate a strong interest in undergraduate education and involving undergraduates in research.
• Candidates who demonstrate a strong interest in departmental service.

Responsibilities

• Teaching responsibilities in our recently revamped curriculum will include a range of undergraduate courses in the Bachelor of Science program, including PSYC 1030 – Introduction to Psychology and courses in the selected candidate’s specialty area.
• Research activity is required for this position, and scholarship activities involving undergraduates will be encouraged.
• Contribute to general education teaching and advising.
• Departmental service.
