The Department of Psychological Science (PSYC) in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Cognitive Psychology to start in August 2027. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment with a competitive startup package. Successful applicants must have: (1) a Ph.D. in psychology or cognitive science from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the start of appointment; (2) an active research agenda in cognitive psychology; (3) evidence of scholarly productivity as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals; and (4) an ability to contribute to the department’s teaching mission in both graduate training and undergraduate instruction in psychological science, including seminar courses in the person’s area(s) of expertise. Preference will be given to candidates with (1) demonstrated potential to obtain extramural funding; (2) an ability to complement existing departmental strengths; and (3) evidence of preparation for teaching courses needed by the department. This is an in-person position. Most university classes are offered face-to-face, and extensive in-person engagement in such activities as office hours, student advising, and departmental, college, and university committee meetings is essential to advancing student success and departmental effectiveness. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
