The Department of Psychological Science (PSYC) in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Cognitive Psychology to start in August 2027. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment with a competitive startup package. The position is in-person, requiring extensive engagement in activities such as office hours, student advising, and departmental, college, and university committee meetings. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is essential, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships. The Department of Psychological Science houses a large undergraduate program (over 1,500 students), as well as Ph.D. programs in Clinical Psychology and in Experimental Psychology. The department has nearly 30 full-time faculty with a wide range of expertise in psychological science, four full-time administrative staff, nearly 50 Ph.D. students, and several postdoctoral fellows. The PSYC department is housed within Memorial Hall, which contains faculty offices, laboratory space, classrooms, and a Psychological Clinic. The Department is also home to a major private endowment that generates over $300K/year to support its research mission, funding graduate research assistants, faculty research, summer pay for grant preparation, and other research-related expenses. The Department of Psychological Science is affiliated with the Institute for Integrative and Innovative Research (I3R), which houses a Siemens Magnetom Cima.X 3T MRI scanner for brain imaging.
