The Department of Political Science at Trinity University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Comparative Politics at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2027. The successful candidate must have their PhD completed by August 2027. While the department is open to various area and regional specializations, they are particularly interested in candidates with thematic expertise in areas such as environmental politics, migration, refugees, global health, democratic instability, media, social movements, and political economy and inequality. Trinity University emphasizes both strong teaching and research, with expectations for the candidate to maintain a robust research agenda, supported by competitive summer research stipends and pre-tenure academic leave. Teaching duties will include the lower-division survey course in Comparative Politics and upper-division courses in the candidate's areas of expertise. Contribution to the university's general education curriculum, especially the First-Year Experience, is also expected. A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and Trinity's value of intentional inclusion is essential. Opportunities for faculty engagement in experiential learning, interdisciplinary teaching and research, and faculty-led study abroad programs are available. The teaching load is five courses per academic year.
