About The Position

The Department of Political Science in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in public administration, public policy, and nonprofit studies, beginning in August 2027. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment. The successful candidate will serve as a core faculty member in the Master of Public Administration and Nonprofit Studies (MPA) program. The department’s standard teaching load is two courses per semester, for a total of four courses per academic year. The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate courses that support the MPA program and introductory level undergraduate courses. This is an in-person position. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Duties will include: 40% Teaching or Professional Performance, 40% Research/Scholarly and/or Creative Activities, 20% Academic Service Activities.

Requirements

• A Ph.D. in political science, public administration, public policy, nonprofit studies, or a closely related field conferred by the start date of employment from an accredited institution of higher education
• Potential to contribute to high-quality scholarship in public administration, public policy, nonprofit studies, or a closely related area
• Ability to teach at least one graduate course in public administration, public policy, or nonprofit studies that supports the MPA program
• Ability to teach introductory level undergraduate courses in the Department of Political Science
• Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment

• Evidence of a coherent and productive research agenda, including peer-reviewed publications or a strong pipeline of scholarly work
• Evidence of effective college-level teaching
• Ability to teach two or more of the MPA course areas identified above
• Experience or demonstrated ability to mentor students
• Research and teaching interests that complement and broaden the strengths of the Department of Political Science and the MPA program
