About The Position

The Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Wesleyan University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry beginning July 1, 2027. The selected candidate will develop an independent research program supported by extramural funding that integrates current biochemical, biophysical or structural approaches to address fundamental problems in the life sciences including but not limited to those relating to nucleic acid structure/function, proteomics, molecular microbiology, protein structure and function, and enzyme kinetics. The new hire will establish their lab in our brand-new life sciences building, including a suite of state-of-the art equipment, and participate in our Ph.D. training program and cross-disciplinary initiatives in the life sciences. Additional duties include advising and mentoring students, as well as participating in faculty governance at the departmental and university level. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in molecular biology or a related field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in research and teaching.
  • Ability to teach biochemistry, advanced laboratory courses in biochemistry or molecular biophysics, and introductory and intermediate molecular biophysics courses.

  • Postdoctoral experience in biochemistry, molecular biophysics, or structural biology.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Participate in faculty governance at the departmental and university level.
