Assistant Professor of Kinesiology

Concordia University Texas•Austin, TX

About The Position

Concordia University Texas seeks an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology committed to student-centered learning, excellent pedagogy, Christian faith, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. The faculty member stays current in the discipline, advances the university’s mission in and out of the classroom, mentors students, works effectively with colleagues and administration, and demonstrates loyalty, discretion, and integrity. The role requires 30 Load Weight Credits (LWC): 24 teaching LWC and 6 scholarship and service LWC. Teaching assignments total 24 LWC per academic year and may be distributed across the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Teaching beyond that amount is considered overload and is compensated accordingly. Teaching duties include preparing live course shells in the LMS, regularly reviewing and providing feedback on assignments recorded in the LMS, and submitting success checks and grades by required deadlines. The scholarship and service requirement represents an annual expectation of 312 clock hours, split equally between those activities. Faculty track and report these hours in an annual Individual Performance and Growth Plan. Scholarship includes professional development and ongoing research that enhance teaching and mentoring. Service includes committee participation, leadership, student engagement, and other contributions to university goals; program coordination may also count as service. Faculty may exceed the minimum scholarship and service requirements without additional compensation, while failure to meet them may result in an increased teaching load. Full-time faculty are expected to participate in department, school, college, and university meetings; recruitment activities; opening service; Embark; Professional Development Days; and commencement ceremonies unless excused by the Dean of Teaching & Learning. Campus Worship attendance is strongly encouraged, as is participation in student events. Candidates must support CTX’s mission and faith-based Lutheran learning model, and demonstrate professional excellence, personal faith in Christ, and commitment to campus diversity, equity, and inclusion. The position requires the ability to lift up to 30 pounds and prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
