The Department of English, Comparative Literature, and Linguistics at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Asian American Literature, with an appointment to begin Fall 2027. CSUF is a large public university committed to student success, innovation, and collaboration. It is a designated Hispanic-Serving Institution and an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution. The department is part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, which offers a wide range of degrees and serves a large student population. Faculty members are expected to be teacher-scholars, contributing to research, teaching, and service. This position specifically seeks scholars with expertise in Asian American literature, with a preference for those with comparative or transnational approaches. Additional expertise in teaching creative writing or children's literature is highly desired, as is tertiary expertise in contemporary literatures, comparative literatures, and/or feminist/women's literature. The appointee will teach a variety of courses at the upper-division, graduate (M.A.), and lower-division levels, including general education courses. Faculty typically teach 3-4 classes per semester, with a reduced teaching load for the first two years. Evidence of an active research program and high-quality teaching is required, along with contributions to departmental life, student advising, committee service, and broader university and disciplinary communities.
