About The Position

The Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program in the Department of Professional Health Sciences at UW-Parkside is expanding and seeks a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Counseling. This fully online position is scheduled to begin in August 2027. Tenure-track responsibilities include teaching 24 credits (six courses) per year, research, and service. Additional summer teaching may be available for additional compensation, depending on program needs.

The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, conduct scholarly research, provide clinical supervision and advisement to students, and contribute service to the program, department, college, university, profession, and community. The position also includes other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Earned or anticipated doctorate in counseling or counselor education, completed by August 2027.
• Experience teaching across the Clinical Mental Health Counseling curriculum.
• Experience teaching asynchronous online, synchronous online, and pre-designed or developed courses.
• Experience providing clinical supervision to clinical mental health counseling students.
• Research and scholarly activity in clinical mental health counseling.
• Experience working with students and staff from culturally diverse backgrounds.
• Licensed as a professional counselor; a training license will be considered, with independent licensure required within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate courses in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, including core courses, in online formats.
• Conduct scholarly research and activities in a chosen specialty within clinical mental health counseling, including publications, presentations, and grant activity.
• Provide clinical supervision to students in the graduate Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.
• Advise students in the graduate program.
• Provide service to the program, department, college, UW-Parkside, the profession, and the community.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
