About The Position

Stetson University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Computer Science, with a focus on cybersecurity, beginning in August 2027. We seek a broadly trained computer scientist with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts setting who will help grow and shape our Bachelor of Science program in Cybersecurity.

Requirements

A Ph.D. in computer science, cybersecurity, or a closely related field is required by the appointment start date.
ABD candidates will be considered if they expect to complete all degree requirements before the appointment begins.
Candidates should demonstrate excellence or strong potential in undergraduate teaching.
Candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach across the computer science curriculum.
Candidates should demonstrate the potential to sustain an active scholarly agenda.

Nice To Haves

Particular consideration will be given to candidates whose teaching, scholarship, professional experience, or certifications demonstrate the ability to contribute to the Cybersecurity program.
Experience with inclusive teaching practices.
Experience with undergraduate research mentorship.

Responsibilities

The annual teaching load is five courses plus one course-equivalent immersive experience offered through Hatter Ready, the University's experiential learning initiative.
The successful candidate will teach across the computer science curriculum, including the introductory sequence and upper-division courses in their area of expertise, and will contribute regularly to courses in the Cybersecurity program.
Teaching assignments may also include General Education courses, such as First-Year Seminars and Junior Seminars.
Maintaining an active program of scholarship.
Academic advising.
Mentoring senior research projects.
Service to the department and University.
