About The Position

The Department of Psychological Sciences at Rice University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Cognitive Psychology/Cognitive Neuroscience, beginning July 1, 2027. The department seeks candidates with a broad research portfolio focused on understanding cognition through experimental approaches. Research interests may include perception, attention, memory, language, decision-making, social cognition, the intersection between affect and cognition, and cognitive control, utilizing methods such as fMRI, TMS, EEG/MEG, eye-tracking, computational modeling, and machine learning. The successful candidate will be associated with the Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience area and is encouraged to explore pathways from basic research to applications addressing societal problems. Potential areas of impact include brain health (collaborating with the Rice Brain Institute, Institute of Health Resilience and Innovation, and the Texas Medical Center), education (collaborating with OpenStax and SafeInsights), workplace (collaborating with the industrial-organizational psychology group and the Global Brain Economy Initiative), and human-AI collaboration (collaborating with the human factors research group and the Ken Kennedy Institute).

Requirements

• Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science) at the time of employment
