About The Position

The San Diego State University Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor with expertise in construction planning, execution and management of resilient infrastructure. This position targets individuals who understand how large-scale infrastructure projects—such as highways, bridges, airports, mass transit, and utility networks—are planned, built, delivered, and maintained. The successful candidate will advance research and teaching in heavy civil construction operations and methods, constructability, project delivery methods, risk management of infrastructure projects, and related areas. The CCEE department offers four undergraduate majors: Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Construction Management. Our faculty is committed to teaching and research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The J.R. Filanc Construction Engineering and Management (JRFCEM) Program is housed in the CCEE department and was established in 2007 through an endowment from the Filanc family and supported by numerous construction firms in the San Diego region.

Requirements

  • A record of original research / scholarly / creative accomplishments and demonstrated capacity to a) develop a vigorous and independent program of research / scholarship / creative activity, b) teach graduate and undergraduate courses; and c) engage in both campus and professional service activities.
  • Demonstration of past accomplishments and/or future plans in at least two (2) or more of the “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria.
  • Terminal degree in [name of discipline(s)], with all degree requirements met by date of hire.
  • Authorization to conduct background checks if they become a finalist for the position.
  • Disclosure of any final administrative decision or final judicial decision issued within the last seven years determining that the applicant committed sexual harassment, if applicable.
