The successful candidate will benefit from an established culture of collaboration and strong research infrastructure while building an independent program of scholarship. The role is designed to advance the Department’s research mission and enhance the education of undergraduate and graduate nursing students. Nursing scholarship at UMass Boston is grounded in partnership, equity, and impact. Our faculty conduct research where health is shaped and delivered, collaborating with communities, health systems, and policymakers to address pressing health challenges locally and globally. We welcome applicants whose scholarship aligns with or expands our strengths in areas such as, aging and gerontology, maternal and child health, mental and behavioral health, community-engaged research, and clinically focused science, including cardiovascular health, diabetes, and oncology. The BS, MS, and DNP nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The MS and DNP programs prepare Family Nurse Practitioners, Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioners and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners. The PhD program focuses on population health and health policy. Across all programs, our teaching addresses health across the life course among diverse populations, with a sustained focus on improving health equity for populations at risk for health care disparities. The University of Massachusetts Boston is the third most diverse university in the country, with more than 60% of our undergraduate students coming from minoritized communities and groups and more than half of our students are the first in their families to attend a college or university. Our students come to us from richly diverse life experiences and backgrounds; they bring to our classrooms and research settings the robust range of perspectives growing out of the socio-cultural, economic, and historical contexts in which they have lived, along with the challenges they encounter, engage, and strive to overcome.
