The School of Information Studies (ESIS) in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ottawa is inviting applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in Library Science, beginning July 1st, 2027. The successful candidate will play a vital role in a well-established, bilingual (French-English) program that is internationally accredited and currently serves approximately 100 students. Applicants should possess relevant teaching experience connected to the School's Master’s program in Information Studies, along with demonstrated expertise in library and information science or in specific research areas, including information resource discovery; library administration, human resources, and operations; marketing and promotion of information organizations; library collection management; information seeking behavior; community engagement; anti-racism in information studies; and, access and services for diverse populations. ÉSIS is one of only eight information science schools in Canada accredited by the American Library Association (ALA). The School offers a Master in Information Studies program (coursework, co-op, and thesis options) available on a full-time or part-time basis, a Graduate Diploma in Information Management, and participates in an interdisciplinary doctoral program in Digital Transformation and Innovation. Graduates of the program find employment in public, academic, and specialized libraries, including institutions such as the Library of Parliament and the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as in government information management and archives.
