About The Position

Anderson University and the College of Engineering invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Industrial Engineering to support its new Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE) program. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, career background, and scholarly trajectory, this appointment may be made as a Tenure-Track/Tenured position (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) or as a Non-Tenure-Track position (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Practice). Rank and appointment track will be commensurate with education, teaching background, scholarly record, and industry leadership experience. We seek dynamic, student-centered educators who are passionate about delivering a hands-on, application-driven curriculum and shaping a new program rooted in academic excellence and Christian values. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with a passion for mentoring students to become ethical, innovative problem solvers.

Requirements

  • Tenure-Track / Tenured (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor): An earned Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution (required).
  • Tenure-Track / Tenured (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor): Record of scholarly activity (or strong potential for scholarship at the Assistant rank) and evidence of effective teaching.
  • Candidates seeking appointment at the Associate or Full Professor rank must demonstrate a record of teaching excellence, curriculum leadership, scholarly output, and institutional service commensurate with senior rank.
  • Professor of Practice (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Practice): A Master’s degree or higher in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution (Ph.D. welcomed; Ph.D. or substantial senior leadership preferred for senior ranks).
  • Professor of Practice (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Practice): Minimum of 5 years of significant, relevant industry experience in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professor of Practice (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Practice): Demonstrated ability to bring real-world engineering practice, modern tools, and industry problem-solving into the classroom.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity or direct experience with ABET accreditation processes and engineering education best practices.
  • Strong regional industry connections and active involvement in relevant professional societies (e.g., IISE, ASQ, SME, INFORMS, ASEE).

Responsibilities

  • Teach a broad range of undergraduate courses in Industrial Engineering, which may include operations research, manufacturing processes and systems, lean systems, data analytics, quality engineering, facilities design, operations planning, human factors, simulation, supply chain systems, and systems engineering.
  • Develop new undergraduate Industrial Engineering courses and associated instructional materials, including lectures, laboratories, projects, assessments, and applied learning activities, to support the launch and continuous improvement of the BSIE curriculum.
  • Participate in the design, assessment, and continuous improvement of the BSIE curriculum in alignment with ABET accreditation criteria and evolving industry needs.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with regional industry partners to support experiential learning, co-ops/internships, senior design (capstone) projects, and industry-informed curriculum innovation.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students in academic planning, career preparation, and professional development.
  • For Tenure-Track/Tenured Track: Establish and sustain an active record of scholarly activity, presentations, publications, and/or externally funded research aligned with the discipline and university mission.
  • For Professor of Practice Track: Maintain active engagement with professional practice, industry consulting, applied engineering projects, and relevant professional societies.
  • Actively participate in departmental, college, and university service (including committee work, recruitment, and retention initiatives), and contribute to a Christ-centered academic community through the thoughtful integration of faith, service, and learning.
