About The Position

California State University (CSU), Chico is seeking an Assistant Tenure-Track Professor in Psychology with a specialization in Marriage & Family Therapy. This position starts in August 2027 and is part of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. Requirements

  • Doctorate degree from a COAMFTE accredited Marriage & Family Therapy Program or an accredited Counseling or Clinical Psychology program. Candidates nearing completion may be considered if all requirements are met by the start date.
  • CA licensure, or intention to obtain it, as a Marriage and Family Therapist, Psychologist, or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. Licensure must be achieved by the end of the third year to continue employment.
  • Meeting, or intending to meet, CA Board of Behavioral Sciences MFT supervisor qualifications. These qualifications must be met by the end of the third year for continued employment.
  • Experience in undergraduate and/or graduate instruction.
  • A record of research and/or scholarly activities.
  • Ability to work within the State of California.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching primarily graduate courses and potentially undergraduate courses as needed.
  • Supervising graduate trainees.
  • Developing a successful program of research or scholarly activity.
  • Seeking external funding.
  • Supporting the administrative and advising needs of the Marriage & Family Therapy program.
  • Joining a team of faculty and staff to coordinate the on-campus training clinic and off-campus traineeship program, with opportunities for developing program leadership.
  • Developing teaching practices that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion.
