Penn State Behrend is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Electrical or Computer Engineering to begin in Fall 2027. This role is within the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, which supports programs in electrical engineering, computer engineering, and electrical and computer engineering technology. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate education, develop a funded research program, and engage in service to the university. Faculty at Penn State Behrend's School of Engineering receive strong support for both undergraduate education and applied research. The college encourages scholarship aligned with strengths in areas such as power and energy systems, battery testing and design, embedded and cyber-physical systems, devices and sensors, robotics and automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, advanced electronics, and communications. Interdisciplinary collaborations and industry partnerships are encouraged, utilizing Behrend’s Open Lab model and state-of-the-art facilities. Future developments include a new Center for Manufacturing Competitiveness (CMC) starting construction in 2026, which will offer dedicated resources for metal casting, advanced polymer research, and battery testing. Research in these specific areas will be highly valued.
