About The Position

The Department of Marketing and Consumer Studies at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, University of Guelph, is seeking an Assistant Professor in Artificial Intelligence and Business. This tenure-track position focuses on the transformative role of AI in business, from value creation and decision-making to consumer engagement and market competition. The ideal candidate will be an emerging scholar with a strong research and teaching record, or potential thereof, contributing to the understanding and application of AI in business contexts. Research areas can include AI in marketing, business analytics, information systems, digital transformation, strategy, and consumer behavior. The role involves developing an impactful research program, publishing in leading journals, and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses related to AI in business, business analytics, and marketing analytics. The successful candidate will also contribute to developing AI-related research capacity, curriculum, and strategic initiatives within the department and the school.

Requirements

  • Possess a Ph.D., or be in the final stages of completing their doctoral studies, in Marketing, Business, Management, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or another closely related field with a clear connection to artificial intelligence and its application to business.
  • Strong record of, or demonstrated potential for, high-quality research.
  • Effective teaching skills.
  • Meaningful service contributions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an impactful research program with strong potential for publication in leading business journals.
  • Address important theoretical, managerial, and societal questions related to AI and business.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas such as AI applications in business, the impact of AI on business and society, business analytics, and marketing analytics.
  • Play an important role in developing AI-related research capacity, curriculum, programming, and strategic initiatives within the Department and the Lang School.
