About The Position

The Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics at Towson University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Forensic Chemistry within the Department of Chemistry & Forensic Science. The preferred start date is August 2027. This search prioritizes candidates who can contribute to teaching and research in forensic programs, particularly at the intersection of forensic chemistry and analytical chemistry.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in analytical chemistry or forensic chemistry is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Postdoctoral research in analytical and/or forensic chemistry.
  • Experience in a forensic trace, forensic drug, or forensic toxicology laboratory.
  • Experience teaching undergraduates and graduate students.
  • Proposed research and teaching that complements existing departmental strengths in forensic chemistry and analytical chemistry.

Responsibilities

  • Primarily teach lecture and lab courses in the Master of Science in Forensic Science (MSFS) and forensic chemistry undergraduate programs.
  • Teach other courses as needed by the department.
  • Establish a competitive independent research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students in forensic chemistry.
  • Pursue external research funding.
  • Disseminate research findings in peer-reviewed journals and at professional meetings.
  • Pre-tenure faculty are assigned an instructional workload of five (5) course units per academic year.
