About The Position
The Department of Psychology at East Tennessee State University invites applications for the Director of the ETSU Behavioral Health and Wellness Clinic (BHWC), the on-campus training clinic for the APA-accredited Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. This position works collaboratively with the Director of Clinical Training and clinical faculty to support the BHWC’s dual mission of providing high-quality behavioral health services and professionally meaningful training experiences for doctoral students in clinical psychology. Primary responsibilities include developing, coordinating, and overseeing the activities of the BHWC; pursuing established clinic goals related to client services and graduate clinical training; supervising clinic office staff and contracted supervisory personnel, as needed; and providing clinical supervision for doctoral practicum students training within the clinic. The Clinic Director also teaches graduate-level coursework related to clinical practice, advises the Director of Clinical Training regarding emerging training needs and professional practice issues, and in coordination with the DCT, may assist with relationships involving external clinical training and service facilities. Additional responsibilities may include oversight of clinic operational systems and processes that support the delivery of training and services within the BHWC.
Requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Commitment to ethical practice consistent with the APA code of ethics.
- Ability to work effectively with populations in a positive, collaborative, and task-oriented manner.
- Ability to work collegially and collaboratively as a member of a clinical training program team.
- Knowledge of trends and developments in the training of clinical psychologists.
- Ability and willingness to provide clinical supervision and instruction to graduate students training to become clinical psychologists.
- Knowledge of the provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) as they pertain to psychology training clinics.
- Interest in and willingness to develop expertise in rural and/or primary care psychology settings, and integrated models of training.
- Knowledge of, and ability to learn, software and systems necessary to support clinic operations, including electronic health records (EHR)s, scheduling systems, BHWC website monitoring, and development/maintenance of BHWC promotional materials.
- Ph.D., Ed.D., or Psy.D. in (Clinical/Counseling) Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
- APA-accredited internship in clinical or counseling psychology.
- Applicants must be licensed or license-eligible as a Health Service Provider psychologist in Tennessee.
Nice To Haves
- At least two years’ experience practicing as a licensed psychologist.
- Previous clinic administration.
