About The Position

The Department of Psychological Science at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), a Carnegie-classified R2 institution, is seeking an Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) who values its Mission and shares its commitment to inclusive excellence and the building of a just society. Requirements

  • Ph.D. or terminal degree in Psychology or a closely related field by the position start date of August 15, 2027.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the teacher-scholar model.
  • Record of active scholarship.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to mentoring undergraduate students in their program of research.
  • Ability to teach a diverse undergraduate student body across a range of undergraduate courses.
  • Address commitment to and past/potential contributions to advancing LMU’s mission and promoting student success, belonging, and thriving.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining an active program of scholarship.
  • Teaching and advising undergraduate students.
  • Mentoring undergraduate students in research.
  • Contributing to department and university service.
  • Teaching a diverse undergraduate student body across a range of undergraduate courses, including general psychology, statistical methods, research methods, and specialty courses in their area of expertise.
  • Contributing to the LMU Core Curriculum, such as through the development of a First-Year Seminar and/or courses incorporating engaged learning pedagogies.
