About The Position

Idaho State University is seeking an Assistant Professor for the Department of Counseling. This position involves teaching core CACREP courses in Master's and Ph.D. programs, advising students, supervising practicum and internship students, directing dissertations, submitting grants, and engaging in scholarly inquiry. The role also requires university, department, and professional service. This is an on-campus position and is not eligible for remote work. The university is a Carnegie-classified doctoral research and teaching institution established in 1901, serving over 12,000 students across multiple locations.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in counselor education from a CACREP-accredited program by contract start date (August 2026)
  • Ability to teach CACREP core courses with specialty experience in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and/or Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling
  • Ability to supervise master's and doctoral level clinical experiences
  • Desire and ability to establish an active scholarship and grant procurement line of research and professional service
  • Must be licensable and committed to initially obtaining a license in the state of Idaho as a licensed professional counselor (LPC)
  • Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered (position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship)
