About The Position

The Department of Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Organizational and Strategic Communication. Join a dynamic, student-centered program experiencing strong growth and built on applied, career-focused communication education. Our award-winning faculty collaborate across disciplines and support thriving emphases in Organizational Communication, Public Relations, Health Communication, Sports Communication, and Mass Media. The successful candidate will help prepare the next generation of communicators through innovative teaching, meaningful scholarship, and community engagement while contributing to the department’s cutting-edge Media Hub and its award-winning student media initiatives. Candidates with professional experience in related fields such as Organizational Communication, Human Resources, or other communication-centered professions are especially encouraged to apply. Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in Communication or closely related field from an accredited institution by the end of the 2027-2028 academic year. Candidates who have not completed their doctorate by the start date will be hired into a terminal appointment at the rank of Instructor with a rate determined at the time of hire. Upon degree conferral, the title will change to Assistant Professor. The contract will not be renewed if the degree is not conferred by the end of the terminal appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach lower- and upper-level courses (both online and in person) in Organizational and Strategic Communication. Courses could include Organizational Communication, Cases in Communication and Media Management, and Persuasion and Argumentation, as well as new courses in the successful applicant’s specific field of study.
  • Implement inclusive instructional strategies to increase support for students from underrepresented and first-generation backgrounds at UW-Green Bay
  • Develop a strong research program involving collaboration with students and/or faculty.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Perform scholarly activities consistent with rank.
  • Perform institutional and community service, including outreach and networking with local businesses and non-profit organizations.
  • Contribute to ongoing program development.
  • Contribute to multiple emphases within the department.
