About The Position

The Department of Psychology at the University of South Florida is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in clinical psychology with a focus on Applied AI. This full-time, 9-month appointment begins August 7, 2027. The ideal candidate will be a clinical scientist whose research program develops, evaluates, studies, or uses artificial intelligence to advance clinical psychology and mental health. This could involve improving the understanding of psychological disorders or developing, evaluating, and implementing assessment, prevention, and treatment approaches. Relevant research areas include AI-supported assessment, diagnosis, and clinical decision-making; digital and adaptive interventions (e.g., conversational agents); the impact of AI on clinical practice and outcomes; and the safe, effective, and responsible use of AI in clinical settings. The successful candidate will join a department with strengths in psychopathology and addiction and will have opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across USF, including with USF Health and the Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing. Applicants should demonstrate an active research program, teaching excellence or potential, and a commitment to the clinical science approach.

Requirements

Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited institution
Demonstrate achievement or strong potential in research, teaching, and service
Meet University criteria for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor
If ABD, all requirements for the doctoral degree must be completed by the appointment start date

Nice To Haves

Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from a PCSAS-, APA-, or CPA-accredited doctoral program
Completion of an APA- or CPA-accredited predoctoral internship
Eligibility for licensure as a psychologist in Florida
