About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is seeking an Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering. This position is part of the School of Civil, Chemical, and Environmental Engineering and aligns with the university's vision of building global expertise in research and education to support the nation's drive for a robust supply chain of critical minerals and materials (CMM). The successful candidate will develop a nationally recognized, externally funded research program, foster interdisciplinary collaborations, and contribute to undergraduate and graduate education in chemical engineering. The intended start date for the position is July 1, 2027.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Must hold at least one (1) degree in chemical engineering.
  • Possess expertise in critical minerals and materials, broadly defined.
  • Describe expertise in CMM in their cover letter.

Nice To Haves

  • Work integrates innovative separation technologies, process intensification, circular economy approaches, or critical mineral and rare-earth element recovery.
  • Experience applying machine learning tools in their research.
  • Demonstrated record in teaching.
