About The Position

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics in the College of Science seeks a dynamic colleague committed to fostering teaching excellence and student development in a program that values creativity, collaboration, learner-centered pedagogy, and a sense of belonging. The new faculty member will join a collaborative group of 26 mathematics, statistics, and data science faculty who serve the entire university community. We seek applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track Assistant Professional Professor position to begin Spring 2027. Although this is a non-tenure track position, progression in rank to professional associate and professional senior professor position is possible. We are particularly interested in a colleague who has preparation and experience in teaching both lower-level and upper-level undergraduate mathematics and statistics courses.

Requirements

• Doctoral in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics.
• Experience working with different student populations at the college level.
• Breadth and depth of mathematical knowledge.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching general undergraduate mathematics/statistics courses.
• Demonstrated professionalism, dependability, and commitment to fulfilling shared departmental instructional responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

• Strong commitment and experience in teaching both lower-level and upper-level undergraduate mathematics/statistics courses.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in performing service.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate mathematics and/or statistics courses, including lower-division and upper-division courses.
• Contribute to ongoing course development and play a leadership role in common assessment and continuous improvement efforts.
• Participate in departmental and university service appropriate to a teaching-focused appointment.
• Support student learning and development through effective teaching, mentoring, and engagement with the various student bodies.
