About The Position

As a critical member of our Production team, you will play a hands-on role in the sub-assembly and installation of major components for heavy-duty transit buses. This is not standard assembly work—our Assistant Production Workers contribute to the build of complex, high-performance vehicles that serve communities across North America. This role offers the opportunity to develop highly specialized skills in a fast-paced, team-based production environment where quality, safety, and precision are non-negotiable. We are seeking candidates who bring strong aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to grow within their assigned cell or trade area. Experience in skilled trades or complex manufacturing environments is highly valued.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1–3 years in a manufacturing or skilled trades environment involving mechanical, electrical, structural, or fabrication work. Heavy-duty or complex vehicle assembly experience is a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to work with schematics, build sheets, measuring tools, and handheld equipment.
  • Familiarity with torquing, fitting, alignment, and diagnostic tools is an asset.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools in a production setting.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively within a structured team environment.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting minor issues, identifying quality concerns, and ensuring proper escalation when required.
  • Willingness to develop deep expertise in specific build areas or systems.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, lift up to 50 lbs., and work in confined or elevated spaces with proper PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and follow blueprints, schematics, and process documentation to assemble and install critical bus components.
  • Execute sub-assembly and installation work using a range of handheld and power tools, ensuring alignment with specifications and quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and production leadership to meet daily performance targets and first-time quality goals.
  • Perform tasks with a strong commitment to workplace safety, following all required PPE, lockout/tagout, and hazard prevention protocols.
  • Troubleshoot and escalate build issues, misalignments, or quality concerns in real-time.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Cross-train in various roles to build a diverse skillset and support operational flexibility.
  • Participate in ongoing training, development, and feedback sessions to support personal growth and team success.
