About The Position

Assists in guidance and direction of hourly staff to ensure continuous operations. This role involves supporting management in maintaining plant productivity, quality, and safety standards, while also coordinating production within budget parameters and ensuring adherence to GMPs, CFIA standards, and quality systems like HACCP, QMS, SOP, and GMPs. The Assistant Production Team Leader models company values, ensures fair treatment of employees, and assists with scheduling and shift coordination when the Team Lead is unavailable. Responsibilities include conducting audits, performing inventory checks, coordinating with other departments, providing performance coaching, leading troubleshooting exercises, and fostering a culture of safety, food safety, and food security.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalency preferred and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and write instructions in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amount such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule.
  • Ability to solve practical problem and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exists.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
  • Ability to operate (or learn to operate) necessary equipment.
  • Accurate in taking samples and performing required tests.
  • Excellent record required in safety, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Ability to stand and walk the entire shift if needed.
  • Knowledge of the proper use of cleaning chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist management in ensuring plant productivity, quality and safety standards are met.
  • Fills in for the Team Lead as Necessary.
  • Maintain plant safety programs to ensure the safety of all employees and products.
  • Coordinate production within budget parameters.
  • Ensure all plants employees are responsible and accountable to maintain GMPs and site standards which include CFIA standards.
  • Ensure all product quality and food safety by ensuring plant employees sustains quality systems. (HACCP, QMS, SOP, GMPs).
  • Model Glanbia values, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all plant employees are treated consistently and fairly in terms of performance, attendance, employment, and development.
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating shifts and employees work schedules as needed when the Team Lead is away.
  • Conduct audits to ensure employees are performing tasks according to standards operating procedures (SOP).
  • Perform inventory checks and sampling.
  • Coordinate, with production planning, warehouse and shipping.
  • Provide performance coaching to and development of hourly employees.
  • Ensure troubleshooting capabilities are developed with all operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure adherence to production schedule.
  • Be involved with and lead troubleshooting and problem solving exercises.
  • Conduct employee meeting, supervise production workforce and assist in employee resolution.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in verbal and written communication and in behaviour.
  • Fosters an employee safety, food safety and food security culture within his/her respective unit and supports GNCI’s efforts through leadership and example.
  • Serves on committees as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
