About The Position

Our client is a pharmaceutical manufacturing company specialising in the production of high-quality medicinal products within a regulated GMP environment. The Assistant Production Manager will support the efficient day-to-day operation of the Production Department, ensuring manufacturing activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with applicable GMP standards, regulatory requirements and internal procedures.

Requirements

  • A degree in Pharmacy, a STEM-related discipline or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least four years of experience within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical environment, ideally in Production, Quality Assurance or as a Qualified Person.
  • Strong knowledge of EU GMP requirements and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing SOPs, batch documentation, deviations, CAPAs and validation protocols.
  • Strong organisational, coordination and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and manage changing production priorities.
  • A strong commitment to quality, workplace safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Production Manager with the daily management of production operations.
  • Coordinate production personnel and allocate responsibilities to ensure the production plan is achieved.
  • Organise production activities to ensure manufacturing processes run efficiently and according to schedule.
  • Oversee granulation, compression, capsule filling, coating, packaging, equipment cleaning and in-process control activities.
  • Manage the full production cycle, from long-term manufacturing scheduling through to the delivery of finished products to the warehouse.
  • Ensure production equipment and machinery are operated correctly and effectively.
  • Review manufacturing and packaging batch records, ensuring all documentation is accurate and completed on time.
  • Prepare, review and update Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ensure production activities comply with current EU GMP, FDA and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance on deviations, investigations and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).
  • Support process validation, equipment changes and production scale-up or scale-down activities.
  • Work closely with R&D, Quality Control, Warehouse and other departments to coordinate production requirements.
  • Ensure the timely preparation and availability of raw materials and products required for manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and identify opportunities to optimise manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure production personnel receive appropriate training and are competent to perform their assigned duties.
  • Monitor departmental KPIs and support employee performance appraisal processes.
  • Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment is worn and that health and safety requirements are followed.
  • Drive continuous improvement through change management initiatives and the implementation of best practices.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the Production Manager.
