About The Position

The Assistant Production Manager will assist the production manager for plant but primarily for the HSL Lines. The assistant production manager will Direct and coordinate production related activities that support the Company’s strategic goals and objectives, including such activities as: departmental goals, manufacturing, rework, housekeeping, training, coaching, safety, and organization. Requirements

  • Associate degree in Industrial Management or an equivalent of production experience in a food manufacturing field.
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience with scheduling, technical, raw materials, inventory management, training, and safety.
  • Prior manufacturing experience, food preferred.
  • Regular and reliable attendance required.
  • Skills in material flows, continuous improvement practices, and process analysis.
  • Self-motivated, hands-on individual with keen interest in quickly learning and applying new skills who can follow written/verbal instructions and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to react quickly to changing requirements and new process developments.
  • Ability to balance needs such as worker safety, process efficiency, and budgetary constraints.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily meetings with all departments Managers, Supervisors, Schedulers, Safety, Quality Team, and warehouse Team
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with all departments within the organization.
  • Communicate and ensure that production employees are aware of and follow all company objectives, policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Maintain a smooth production operation while maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Monitor and maintain the 5’s housekeeping program.
  • Work directly with employees to develop their skills in all areas of the production operation.
  • Work closely with production schedulers to make sure that all the required products are scheduled to run at the right time, and all the required materials are available.
  • Monitor the inventory of all production supplies.
  • Work with Production Planning scheduler to make sure that all the inventory discrepancies are fixed in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with Process Engineers, Raw Materials, and Maintenance to assure that all Lines and equipment’s are always running efficiently.
  • Monitor the day-to-day results of added value and make sure that all the shift supervisors are working to achieve the departmental and company goals.
  • Work closely with the Quality Control Department to maintain the highest quality standards for all our products.
  • Manage all the reworks versus customers and quality needs.
  • Spend at least 70 percent of time on the production floor working with managers, supervisors, leads and production employees.
