About The Position

We are looking for an Experienced Assistant Production Manager who will be primarily responsible for assisting breeder manager in directing and coordinating breeding operations, and ensuring delivery of quality product. This role involves overseeing and managing assigned breeder operations, ensuring the required quantity and quality of hatch eggs are available for hatcheries. The Assistant Production Manager will also oversee all Breeder Producer relationships and associated goods and services, implement and monitor pullet and breeder production programs, and ensure the training and development of all Breeder Representatives and Technicians. Additionally, the role includes providing communication and direction for contract growers, monitoring their development, and overseeing pullet placements, moves, vaccinations, and hatch egg numbers. The position requires providing performance and cost numbers to accounting and management, monitoring pullet and breeder flock health and adherence to blood testing procedures, and maintaining pullet growing agreements and breeder flock agreements. The Assistant Production Manager must lead and manage in a way consistent with the company’s values and strategic objectives, and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations such as Animal Welfare, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree in Poultry Science, Agricultural Science or related field from an accredited institution OR 4 years equivalent education and experience
Minimum 4 years’ poultry breeder operational experience
Minimum 4 years’ supervisory experience within a similar environment
Advanced poultry science knowledge
Demonstrated high level of initiative and ownership of projects
Ability to confront and manage through conflict situations with employees and contractors
High work capacity, dependable, results oriented and strong sense of urgency
Strong leadership and supervisory skills
Demonstrated success building effective teams with proven ability to lead by engaging and motivating a team and influencing an organization
Highly effective interpersonal communication skills sufficient to communicate and interact effectively with all levels within organization
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of math functions and skills
Solid computer skills particularly with MS Office programs
Advanced organizational skills, with attention to detail
Demonstrated sound work ethic, honesty and moral character

Responsibilities

Oversee and manage assigned breeder operations
