This administrative role is an opportunity to be an important part of school presentation and culture. We are looking for a positive-minded, flexible team player who can serve as a support to the Principal in the overall administration of the school, builds professional relationships and contributes to a positive community within the student body.

Requirements

  • Licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Massachusetts School Principal/Assistant Principal (Current and Valid for Grades 6-8) with SEI Endorsement.
  • Master’s Degree or higher with graduate coursework in educational administration, curriculum development, supervision, and/or evaluation.
  • Can demonstrate a minimum of three (3) year successful experience as a teacher, preferably at the middle school level
  • Can demonstrate knowledge and experience with implementation of middle school philosophy
  • Must be a growth-minded, team player, able to work well with others and contribute to a positive school community.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful middle school experience as an assistant principal, or comparable administrative position, ideally at the middle school level preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese) highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists with administrative responsibilities for the operation, maintenance, and climate of the school.
  • Assists in leadership for curriculum, instruction, and assessment of student achievement.
  • Serve as an instructional leader within the school by supervising and evaluating teachers and participating in and contributing to building leadership decisions and the development of policies and/or educational programs in concert with the Principal, the Assistant Principal, and the Leadership Team.
  • Collects and analyzes data on student performance.
  • Works with building administrators to affect an optimum learning climate for all students that promotes positive student interactions, learning, and quality curriculum.
  • Administer a disciplinary policy in a manner that will help the student develop self-discipline and promote respect for self and others.
  • Is on-site for the departure of the late buses Monday through Thursday.
  • Creates and administers 504s.
  • Works with Guidance/MCAS to ensure that student support teams are implemented to address specialized student needs.
  • Assists with the selection, retention, and promotion of personnel assigned to the school.
  • Assists with the administration of all school-site related aspects of negotiated employee contracts.
  • Work in collaboration with counselors and the secretary to monitor and support students’ academic progress, discipline, attendance, and tardiness.
  • Maintains an open-door policy, encouraging teachers and students to discuss their problems and needs; be available and visible to teachers and students during the school day with the objective of creating a positive and supportive school culture and climate.
  • Facilitate communication between teachers and parents regarding student concerns.
  • Assists in the administration and supervision of all curricular and extra-curricular programs in the school.
  • Attend and chaperone school events and functions such as, but not limited to; athletic events, activities, parent forums, dances
  • Assist with preparation and administration of the school budget.
  • Work with school-based management team to develop and implement a vision for the school.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of professional development.
  • Assist with the administration of all school-site related aspects of negotiated employee contracts.
  • Display evidence of participation in professional development.
  • Assist in the maintenance of a clean, safe physical plant and environment.
  • Assist in the planning and supervision of an emergency evacuation and preparedness program.
  • Complete all mandated state and federal reports.
  • Ensure effective public relations.
  • Maintains active professional relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of state and federal grants and reports.
  • Assist in establishing effective communications between the school and central office administration.
  • Assists in the development of the master schedules and student and teacher schedules in collaboration with counselors and curriculum supervisors.
  • Working with the leadership team, coordinates MCAS and other school or grade-wide standardized testing.
  • Assume responsibility for any other duties as indicated by the Principal, Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee and policies of the Marlborough School Committee
