About The Position

The Assistant Principal of School Culture (APSC) on assignment is a leadership development role intended to prepare leaders for future APSC opportunities across Mastery's Philadelphia and Camden campuses. The APSC implements restorative practices within a Mastery school and, reporting to and working closely with the Principal, serves as an instructional, cultural, and behavioral leader. The role cultivates a participatory, achievement-focused, outcomes-driven school culture; coaches teachers on classroom management; oversees extracurricular activities that connect school culture with academics; and fosters parent and community involvement. The APSC partners with teachers, parents, administrators, and students to support academic achievement and accountability. During temporary campus assignments, the APSC may assume the full responsibilities of an APSC to maintain leadership continuity during vacancies, leaves, or transitions. The position also supports network-wide student development priorities and Mastery's future school-leader pipeline. The role coaches and develops staff and Deans of Students, analyzes culture data, manages student disciplinary processes within a restorative justice model, and leads student leadership, community meetings, and classroom circles. It may require frequent travel between multiple locations, and reliable transportation is essential.
