About The Position

The Assistant Principal of Instruction and Curriculum is responsible for ensuring the continued growth of our teaching staff, mentoring and coaching new and returning faculty members. In addition, the Assistant Principal of Instruction and Curriculum helps to guarantee that our classroom learning aligns with the Diocese of Venice standards and benchmarks.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree required.
  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church.
  • Minimum of 5 years of school experience.
  • Excellent communications skills including written, verbal, public speaking, and presentation skills; must have excellent communications skills with children, teens and adults.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure
  • Proficiency in the use of computer technology including word processing and the use of school-related technology
  • Flexibility in assessing needs and strategies and adapting appropriately in a school ministerial environment
  • Outstanding leadership skills; a team-oriented individual
  • Must pass Level II Background Screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two years of experience as a school administrator preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understands and upholds the policies and guidelines of the Diocesan Department of Education, and the philosophy and objectives of the school and aids in the Catholic Christian formation of the students.
  • Oversee curriculum and instruction in all classes PK-8.
  • Work with faculty on purposed curriculum changes.
  • Oversee all faculty development, training, and retreats.
  • First administrative contact for concerns about student or teacher academic performance
  • Ensure all faculty teaching licenses are up to date and assist with renewals.
  • Lead and organize the school’s accreditation self-study process.
  • Collaborates with faculty and staff to gather, analyze, and document evidence aligned with standards for accreditation.
  • Facilitate meetings, committees, and timelines related to accreditation.
  • Promotes on-going, two-way communications with students, school personnel, parents and others to enhance the instructional program and the school.
  • Be a regular presence in classrooms, informally observing and following up with teachers and students in order to support a positive learning environment, engaging learning opportunities, and high expectations for student work and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with academic staff on the successful execution, measurement, and achievement of instructional goals.
  • Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement and provide feedback to teachers through instructional coaching.
  • Analyze instruction and assessment data to inform academic decisions, professional development, and teacher coaching to meet students’ needs and academic goals.
  • Assists in the development of the course catalogue describing all course offerings and coordinates with teachers the titles of books to be purchased each year after approval by the principal.
  • Acts as the professional growth advisor for teachers who are working towards personal professional development in such areas as the completion and renewal of credentials.
  • Assists new or struggling teachers with resources or mentoring.
  • Works with the principal to plan and coordinates faculty in-service and staff development opportunities.
  • Conducts informal classroom observations, instructional supervisions, and formal evaluation visits.
  • Assists in the annual revision of the student and faculty handbooks.
  • Is a member of the School Leadership Team Assisting the principal in all assigned activities of the school.
