About The Position

Under occasional supervision, the Assistant Principal assists the principal, teachers, and other instructional staff in coordinating and improving the instructional program of assigned grade levels to benefit every student. This role also assists the principal with daily school administrative functions, including enforcing student discipline policies and procedures, and supervises and coordinates the work of assigned personnel, ensuring adherence to school and district policies, regulations, and goals. The Assistant Principal reports to the principal.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in education
  • Three or four years of teaching experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Valid Teacher certificate from the South Carolina State Board of Education
  • Must possess or be in the process of obtaining Administration certification
  • Valid state driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Assists the school principal by providing leadership in the coordination, implementation, and improvement of the school’s instructional program, and assisting with other administrative functions as assigned.
  • Supervises subordinate staff, including instructing, assigning, reviewing, and planning work; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; assisting with new employee selection; acting on employee problems; and recommending discipline and discharge.
  • Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to district policies; evaluates and makes recommendations; offers training, advice, and assistance.
  • Assists in the preparation of the school’s annual operating budget.
