About The Position

We are seeking an individual with strong leadership skills who can support the Principal and bring creative solutions to promote the educational development of the students. The Assistant Principal helps supervise teachers and staff members and may act as the Principal in their absence. The incumbent should possess strong knowledge of student instruction and assessment of learning. Administrators contribute to the overall development of teachers and students alike, with a focus on Student Success, Safety and Wellbeing, Community Connection, and Stewardship of Community Resources.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Master's Degree in Education, Administrative Certification and a minimum of three years' experience as a teacher or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, District and departmental rules, policies and procedures.
  • Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills with ability to prioritize school issues.
  • Currently possess or obtain prior to appointment, an Arizona Principal Certificate.
  • Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Must be able to pass a background clearance check.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid government issued ID / driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as school's instructional leader for academic programs; helping students discover and fulfill their potential.
  • Conduct direct and frequent observations of the instructional programs and provides feedback for growth and development of team.
  • Establish concrete goals and expectations for all students based on the analysis of student achievement data.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness for curriculum alignment, instructional strategies, implementation, and assessment.
  • Responsible for the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of all school personnel.
  • Accountable for master schedule of classes within established guidelines.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Enhance Peoria Unified's culture which encourages and strengthens parent and community partnerships along with co-workers, vendors, students, the general public, and others having business with the District.
  • Available to students, parents, and teachers for education-related purposes outside the regular instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
  • Plan, organize, supervise, and direct all school sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events.
  • Adhere to effective policies, practices, and accountability of District resources.
  • Maintain acceptable accounting practices for various funds generated by student activities.
  • Assure school's compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Responsible and accountable for sound fiscal management.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
