About The Position

The Preschool Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the teacher in the development of enrolled students through a biblical lens in line with the Calvary Albuquerque Mission and Vision. This is done via love and care for the students and the sound application of prescribed curriculum(s).

Requirements

  • Concurrence with Calvary Albuquerque’s Statement of Faith and Calvary Preschool’s Mission Statement.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in early childhood education through employment or practicum program.
  • 45 Hour Entry Level Course with a Professional Development Plan stating your plan of action for obtaining a higher level of education, -Or-Associates in Child Development (CDA) or New Mexico Child Development Certificate (CDC), -Or- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Early Childhood Education
  • Be able to lift children and equipment as needed in order to perform job.
  • Ability to pass a New Mexico Childcare Licensing Criminal Background Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Attendance at one Calvary Albuquerque main service on a weekly basis, highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and practice Calvary Albuquerque Statement and Faith and Calvary Preschool Philosophy.
  • Reinforce Christian values each day.
  • Provide a caring and loving Christian environment while teaching an educational curriculum.
  • Participate in at least twenty-four (24) hours of training each year of employment per New Mexico Childcare regulations.
  • Effectively utilize the designated prep time to prepare for the arrival of children creating a welcoming environment with greetings for the parents and children by name.
  • Take responsible and ownership for the safety of the classroom and ensure no child is ever be left unattended, even for a moment.
  • Show good judgement and self-control.
  • Be courteous, respectful and patient with children and their actions.
  • Follow lesson plans provided by the Teacher and help gather necessary materials to support the plans.
  • Plan and implement age appropriate activities.
  • Assist the Teacher in working with children on basic skills: sharing, waiting their turn, manners, etc.
  • Implement activities as prescribed by the Teacher.
  • Prepare for and participate in parent/teacher conferences once per year.
  • Schedule outside play time to be integrated into learning as an extension of the classroom by teacher involvement as to maximize impact.
  • Assist the Teacher with the rotating center materials to meet curriculum needs.
  • Keep classrooms clean, safe and attractive through the effective utilization of designated clean-up time at the close of each day.
  • Maintain current CPR, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens certification.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and training days.
