Assistant Preschool Teacher
About The Position
Our classrooms are full of curiosity, creativity, and collaboration, with educators working side-by-side with speech, occupational, and mental health therapists to support each child as a whole person. Encompass is a private nonprofit serving the Snoqualmie Valley and Issaquah communities for over 50 years. Our mission is to partner with families to build healthy foundations for children. We believe what happens early in life matters. We offer high quality, leading edge early childhood education, therapeutic services, and family enrichment programs for children ages 0-12 and their families.
Requirements
- A CDA (Child Development Associate) credential (or working toward one)
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
- A positive, flexible, “let’s figure it out” attitude
- Strong communication skills with children, families, and teammates
- Comfort juggling a variety of tasks (and the occasional surprise!)
- DCYF Portable Background check
- Registered in Merit with a Star’s ID #
- TB screening
- Food Handler’s Permit
- First Aid & CPR certification (Within Your First 30 Days)
- Blood Borne Pathogens (Within Your First 30 Days)

Responsibilities
- Help bring daily classroom plans to life—from music and movement to meals, group projects, and free play
- Create a welcoming, organized, and engaging classroom environment
- Pitch in to plan family events and support family goals
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Build positive, nurturing relationships with every child
- Support social-emotional growth and individualized learning
- Help make mealtimes meaningful (yes—family-style meals included!)
- Promote healthy habits like handwashing and toothbrushing
- Observe, document, and support each child’s development
- Step in confidently when the Lead Teacher is away
- Keep records up to date
- Support screenings and learning plans
- Help welcome and guide volunteers
- Jump in wherever needed—because teamwork makes the magic happen
