This role is responsible for providing management engineering support with the maintenance, repair and modification of ships, boats and related support equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marine engineering or a related field; or a combination of post-high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.
  • 5 or more years’ experience sailing on commercial vessels and an understanding of Marine Operations, or equivalent experience in a shipyard or related maritime field.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners.
  • Ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously while meeting assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment.
  • Ability to gather, interpret, report, and use data and other information concerning assigned activities.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise documents, including, but not limited to reports, procedures, correspondences and other written materials.
  • Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.

Nice To Haves

  • May require a US Coast Guard Licensed engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development of budgets and schedules, contractor selection, quality assurance and contract management while continually interfacing with regulatory agencies, design groups and shipyards.
  • Prepare, develop and evaluate specifications and bid packages.
  • Monitor repairs or new construction actions when carrying out repair activity.
  • Make sure all applicable regulatory documentation for vessels are kept current and periodic inspections are accomplished.
  • Ensure in-house and third-party inspections, repairs, maintenance and record keeping is performed on a regular basis.
  • Assist management with system designs of both new construction and modifications of existing vessels.
  • Manage the company ISO policy, vessel operating manual, as well as ensure the ABS rules are within guidelines.
