About The Position

Supervises the department under the direction of the Police Chief and has the full responsibility for the efficient and successful operations of the department. The Assistant Chief assists in the planning, organizing, coordinating and directing of personnel and resources of the department towards achieving the goals of security, peace, and well-being.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Possession of a Utah POST Basic Law Enforcement Officer Certification
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain an appropriate valid Utah driver's license
  • Proficiency in use of motor vehicle
  • Proficiency in use of department firearm(s)
  • Maintain skill in Arrest Control Techniques
  • Proficiency with department impact tools and other less lethal munitions as required
  • Must possess the physical skill and agility necessary to apprehend, detain and control a suspect
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Essential knowledge of leadership skills and techniques
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, run, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, and climb
  • Exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, explosive materials, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards
  • Ability to travel to different sites and locations
  • Must successfully pass the department's physical fitness criteria
  • Must successfully pass the department's physical fitness criteria
  • Successfully pass a background check
  • Successfully pass a driving record check
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Successfully pass the assessment center
  • Successfully pass a psychological test

  • Three (3) years of administration experience as a Lieutenant rank or higher

  • Follow any other instructions and perform any other job-related duties requested by his or her supervisor.
