About The Position

The role involves completing daily work functions within production operations in a safe and efficient manner. The Assistant Plant Operator will blend, react, package, and transfer finished chemical products while maintaining quality standards. They will operate mechanical and electrical equipment including pumps, mixers, automation control systems, and packaging equipment. Forklift operations will be performed to move materials throughout the facility. Production documentation, including production tickets, goods receipts, inventory transactions, and shipping documentation, will be completed. Daily inspections of equipment and work areas will be conducted, maintaining housekeeping standards. Compliance with plant safety initiatives, environmental requirements, and quality procedures, including near-miss and incident reporting, is essential. The role also involves assisting with physical inventory counts and maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring compliance with ISO requirements and company operating procedures. Collaboration with Production Team Leads and cross-functional teams is key to supporting safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations. The position is located in Odessa, TX, within the Chemical Technologies Manufacturing Operations department and reports to Production Team Leads. The role requires the ability to work the assigned plant operations schedule, including overtime as needed, and is deemed safety-sensitive, potentially subject to drug testing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator
  • Physically able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and perform bending, squatting, kneeling, and other physical activities required in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have the ability to safely work in an industrial manufacturing environment while wearing required personal protective equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Two-year Process Technology degree preferred
  • Minimum of one year of experience as an operator in a batch or specialty chemical manufacturing plant
  • Minimum of one year of relevant manufacturing or production experience
  • Forklift operation certification preferred
  • 24-Hour HAZWOPER certification preferred
  • Basic computer application literacy, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn internal business systems
  • Prior experience that demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills
  • Prior experience that demonstrates strong work ethic, effective time management, adaptability, teamwork, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
